TURTLE TUNES
A long time favorite at Covenant Nursery School, this lunch program will be offered to any child in our multi-age classes and will be offered on different days throughout the year from 11:45-1:15. Turtle Tunes will feature time to eat a parent-provided sack lunch in the company of friends, some relaxed free play, and a half hour of music instruction by an experienced Kindermusik instructor. Children will enjoy moving to music, exploring a variety of musical instruments, listening to sounds, singing songs and playing singing games. Music instruction is a wonderful way to encourage children’s large and small motor skills, their listening and patterning skills, creativity and social interaction.
Instructor: Allison Ashley is in her over 18 years of experience as a Kindermusik educator. Allison has a Masters Degree in Music Performance and has much experience training teachers in the Kindermusik Curriculum. She is currently a multi-age teacher at Covenant.
SPANISH
Covenant began offering this introductory Spanish class two years ago to much acclaim! Spanish will be offered on Wednesdays from 11:45-1:15 and will be a very gentle introduction to the Spanish language through the use of games, songs, books, and play. Children will eat a parent-provided sack lunch and have many opportunities to hear and practice the use of different Spanish words. This enrichment is intended to give a very basic introduction to the Spanish language and, more importantly, to give children an awareness that learning another language can be fun!
Instructors: Becky Brodsky and Fabiola Morales have been co-teaching the Spanish enrichment class for the past two years.
DRAMATIC ME This lunchtime program will feature dramatization of familiar stories such as "The Three Billy Goats Gruff", "The Three Little Pigs", "Rainbow Fish" as well as some that may not be so familiar, "Anansi tales", etc. Children will be able to explore different pieces of literature - creating props and costumes for the story, through arts and crafts, and finally by acting the story out. Children will experiment with some story dictation (where children get to create stories of their own while a teacher writes it down), inviting others in the room to help act out their own pieces! Children will also eat a parent-provided sack lunch.
Instructors: Martha Petersen and Jacqueline Jung will lead this very creative enrichment.
WILD SCIENCE This lunch program is offered to our multi-age children. Children will have the opportunity to eat a parent-provided sack lunch in the company of friends, explore some scientific phenomena, as well as conduct some basic science experiments/projects such as making a volcano. This is a very hands on class perfect for those kids always asking "why?".
Instructors: Elizabeth Hubbard, a former Covenant parent and fellow educator, and Martha Petersen will be leading this class.
HANDS ON ART
New this year, Covenant will be offering a very hands on, often times messy art enrichment. Children will have the opportunity to experiment more in depth with art materials such as sculpture, papier-mache, mod podge, 3D collage, as well as some more familiar art mediums. This a great enrichment for any age child! Children will also have the opportunity to eat a parent-provided sack lunch in the company of friends and have some time for free play.
Instructors: Michelle Brookfield, a current Covenant parent and graphic designer, and Jacqueline Jung, our new multi-age teacher and former art therapist will lead this fun class.
LUNCH BUNCH PLUS
This lunch program is offered to any child in our multi-age and Young Three's class and will be offered from 11:45-1:15 any day that enough children are interested. Children have the opportunity to eat a parent-provided sack lunch, meet new friends and participate in relaxed, less structured free play. As an additional bonus: Martha offers an engaging craft project such as making crowns, wands, collages, etc. Children will be escorted by a teacher to Lunch Bunch which will be held in the Two's "castle room" in the basement.
Instructor: Martha Petersen will be leading this highly engaging and fun lunch program.
