Our staff is composed of many talented, nurturing, and dedicated individuals. Several are parents of former Covenant students who have now returned to help educate the next generation. Combined, the staff has over an amazing 75 years of experience in Early Childhood Education!

Sonja • 10 years with Covenant

Linda • 23 years with Covenant

Jackie • 8 years with Covenant

Sonja is a lead teacher in the multi-age Turtle Champs classroom. She also enjoys teaching a Pre-K enrichment class to help prepare those children moving on to Kindergarten the following year. With two sons in high school, one of whom attended Covenant, Sonja has extensive knowledge of young children and their development. She has a Master's Degree in Political Science and has completed about half of the coursework toward a Masters Degree in Education.

Linda is a lead teacher in the multi-age Turtle Stars classroom. She has over 25 years of pre-school and early childhood experience which makes her an invaluable part of our staff! Her background includes extensive early childhood education coursework at Oakton Community College. She is married and is kept busy by her five children and five grandchildren. Her children are all proud graduates of Covenant Nursery School!

Jackie is a lead teacher in the multi-age Turtle Stars classroom. She is returning this Fall with a new name - Mrs. Bellavia - after getting married this summer... congratulations! She has a great deal of experience working with children and is looking forward to meeting many new families. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Art from DePaul University and a Master's Degree in Art Therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. She loves teaching the after school enrichments like Hands on Art, Mix-It-Up, Spanish and Dance, Dance, Dance!!

Allison • 12 years with Covenant

Michelle • 8 years with Covenant

Allison is a lead teacher in the multi-age Turtle Champs Room. She also loves using her musical background to teach Turtle Tunes and her love of nature and the outdoors to teach Nature Explorers, both enrichment classes. She has taught young children since 1988 - that's over 28 years of experience! She has a Masters degree in Music as well as additional coursework in Early Childhood Education.

Elizabeth is a lead teacher in the Turtle Two's and Young Three's classes. She enjoys teaching a very popular enrichment class as well - yoga! She has three children who all graduated from Covenant, during which time she served as Board President and the helped the school achieve its initial NAEYC accreditation - a huge undertaking! She has a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Beloit College and has over twelve additional years of experience teaching young children.

Michelle is a lead teacher in the Turtle Two's and Young Three's classes. She also loves teaching Hands on Art, Mix-It-Up and Dance, Dance, Dance enrichment classes! Similar to many of our other staff members, Michelle has had two children come through Covenant and was a very active member of the Board of Directors. As the mother of two boys, she has some of the best training possible! She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from DePaul University with a strong emphasis in Art education.

Jackie is an assistant teacher in the Turtle Two's and Young Three's classes. In addition to her experience at Covenant, Jackie is a mom of four children - which naturally brings a wealth of practical experience and knowledge to our program! In total, she has over ten years of Early Childhood Education experience.

Kim is a Floater Teacher/Director Designee. She is married with two children of her own. She has over 25 years of professional early childhood experience in addition to the wealth of knowledge she gained raising her own children. She has an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Oakton Community College and has completed some of the coursework toward a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Administration.

Tina has been the Executive Director of Covenant Nursery School for the last eleven years. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Northwestern University and a Masters of Education, specializing in Early Childhood Education from the Erikson Institute (a graduate school specializing in child development) here in Chicago. Prior to having her own children and taking a few years off, she was Assistant Director of Baby Toddler Nursery in Evanston. She is married with three children, two of which are Covenant graduates and one more in The Turtle Stars!
