Turtle Two’s

Covenant offers a two day a week two year old class that meets on both Wednesday and Friday in the lower level “castle room”. Children must be two by September 1, 2008 to attend. The first half of the year, class will meet for two hours from 9:15-11:15 both days. Beginning after winter break, class will meet for two and a half hours from 9:15-11:45. In this class, parents are invited to accompany their child through the first class periods to help ease the transition from home to a group setting. Throughout the year, parents are always welcome to visit or participate in class! This class is very social-emotionally driven: much talk and play about separations, gaining confidence in their abilities, gaining a healthy self-esteem, and learning how to interact appropriately with peers. In this class, children will have time for child directed choice time where they are able to choose areas of the room to play in (dress up corner, kitchen area, block corner, art center with easel, book corner, castle play, puzzle table, as well as a craft project led by a teacher). Class also consists of time in our large indoor playroom every day, group time with songs, stories, movement activities, and a snack. Two lead teachers and one teacher aide lead this class of twelve two year olds. Children in this class do not have to be potty trained.

Young Three's

This class meets in the lower level “castle room” Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:15-11:45. Two lead teachers and one teacher aide lead this class of fourteen children who must be three by December 1, 2008 in order to attend. Parents are invited to accompany their child through the first class periods to help ease the transition from home to a group setting and are welcome to visit or participate in class throughout the year! This class is also very social-emotionally driven: much talk and play about separations, gaining confidence in their abilities, gaining a healthy self-esteem, and learning how to interact appropriately with peers. In this class, children will have time for child directed choice time where they are able to choose areas of the room to play in. Throughout the year, children will gradually experience longer group times with songs, felt boards, books, and movement activities in addition to time each day either outside on the fenced in playground or in our large indoor playroom, and a snack. After winter break, children will be able to sign up for optional lunchtime enrichment classes. Children do not have to be potty trained in order to be in this class.

Multi-Age

Two multi-age classes meet from 9:15-11:45 in the morning. Children must be three by September 1, 2008 in order to enroll. Parents can choose from several different options either 3, 4, or 5 days a week – parents also may choose days of the week that best work for your family. Class consists of child-directed choice time, large group circle time, large motor time either outside in our fenced-in playground or inside in the indoor playroom, and a snack. During group time, children choose “jobs” such as line leader, putting out napkins or cups, weather person, door closer, room monitor, etc. – these are naturally very coveted positions! All classrooms also do some calendar work where they observe the daily weather, learn days of the week, and count out days of the month. Books, games, stories, and other discussions related to the theme of the week are all a part of the two group times each day. Two lead teachers teach each class of a maximum of eighteen children. Children should be potty trained – children may attend in pull-ups, however, these classrooms are not staffed to change diapers or pull-ups.
