Covenant Nursery School Teachers and Staff

The current staff of Covenant Nursery School is composed of many talented, nurturing, and dedicated individuals. Several are parents of former Covenant students who have now returned to help educate the next wave of Covenant children. Combined, the staff has over 75 years of experience in
Early Childhood Education!

Linda is beginning her sixteenth year teaching at Covenant Nursery School. Linda has over 20 years of pre-school and early childhood experience – she founded and continues to run the Book Buddies summer program. Her background includes extensive Early Childhood Education coursework at Oakton Community College. Linda is married and is kept busy by her five children and three grandchildren. Her children are all graduates of Covenant Nursery School.
Allison has been teaching a multi-age preschool class here at Covenant for four years now, now that both her children have gone off to college. In addition, she is a licensed Kindermusik instructor and will be leading our wonderful music enrichment. Allison has over thirteen years of experience teaching pre-school children always with a strong emphasis on music. Allison has a Masters degree in Music and had the good fortune to travel over much of Asia this summer
Martha will be starting her fifth year teaching the Young Three’s and Turtle Two’s classes at Covenant. Her history with Covenant, however, is even more extensive. Both of her two children graduated from Covenant several years ago during which time Martha was actively involved, even serving as the Board President! She has a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s History from the College of Wooster and very strong beliefs about appreciating and allowing for the individual development of children.
Elizabeth has been teaching Covenant’s Turtle Two’s and Young Three’s classes for four years now. As is becoming a familiar story, this does not adequately reflect the nature of her experience with Covenant either. Elizabeth has three children who also graduated from Covenant during which time she, too, served as Board President and helped the school achieve its NAEYC accreditation – a huge undertaking! Elizabeth has a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Beloit College and over ten years of experience teaching young children.
Sonja has been with Covenant for the past two years as a teacher aide in the Young Three’s and Turtle Two’s classes. Ready for a new adventure, Sonja is excited to be joining Allison upstairs in the multi-age classroom this year as a lead teacher. With two young boys of her own, Sonja has a great deal of practical experience in group management and early childhood development! Sonja also has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and has completed about half of the course work toward a Masters degree in Education.
Photo Coming Soon... We are excited to be welcoming Jackie J. this year as a lead teacher in the Turtle Stars class. Jackie comes to Covenant with a great deal of experience working with children and is looking forward to meeting many new families. She has a bachelor’s degree in Art from DePaul University and a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. She is excited to bring her vast experience with art and children to our program. In her spare time, Jackie enjoys hanging out with her beloved dog, Lucy, and is an avid world traveler!
Photo Coming Soon... Covenant has had the good fortune to have Jackie D. return to our program this year as a teacher aide in the Young Three’s and Turtle Two’s classes. In addition to her previous two years of experience with us, Jackie is a parent of four children -- she naturally brings a wealth of practical experience and knowledge to the program! Jackie is currently furthering her knowledge of young children with classes at Oakton Community College. She has over seven years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
Tina has been the Executive Director of Covenant Nursery School for the last three years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Northwestern University and a Masters of Education, specializing in Early Childhood Education, from the Erikson Institute (a graduate school specializing in child development) here in Chicago. Prior to having her own children and taking a couple years off she was the Assistant Director at a child care center in Evanston. She is married and has two children, Will who is six and entering first grade and four year old Sophie who will be attending Covenant for her final year. She is looking forward to getting to know all of you better and to helping Covenant Nursery School provide the best experience for your child and family!
