Book Buddies Summer 2009
We are very excited to offer this unique summer program for the 11th consecutive year! We have developed a curriculum that will capture the imagination of every child enrolled. Based on their ages and various resources, we've put together a schedule of diverse and eclectic activities.
We have chosen a variety of classic and contemporary authors and illustrators, along with some poetry and folk tales. Indeed, the hardest part is to choose from the abundance and proliferation of wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated children's literature! We will, of course, use familiar and popular artists
such as:
•Asch
•Bunting
•Carle
•Ehlert
•Fleming
•Florian and
•Waddell
However, we will also spend time on familiarizing your children with new writers and artists.
The class meets Monday through Friday from 9:30 to Noon and is for children aged 3 to 5. You may attend 2, 3, 4 or 5 days; whatever suits your schedule! Our time together will be filled with a variety of creative and educational opportunities designed to make the books "come alive". After the "Book of the Day" has been presented, your child will choose from several different activities related to that day's book, and encouraged to learn through play. Various drama and art activities will be done, as well as looking at other books relative to the topic. A list of featured books will always go home to you. Outdoor time and snack are also included in this very affordable program.
