Honeybee Three's

3 BY DEC. 31, 2021
TEACHERS ARE
ALLYSON LEBER, LIZ PAWLAK AND JACKIE DENNIS

This class meets on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 9:15-11:45 am. Two lead teachers and one assistant teacher lead this class of twelve children. This can be a great option for some younger three-year-olds as well as older two-year-olds. This class is very social-emotionally driven; much talk and play about separations, gaining confidence in their abilities, and building healthy self-esteem, as well as learning how to interact appropriately with peers. Children who are potty trained will also be able to sign up for our optional lunchtime enrichment classes. Children do not have to be potty trained in order to be in the Honeybee Three's class.

Here's a look at our day:

  • Attendance Turtle -- As children enter the room they find the turtle with their name on it and place it on the attendance turtle to let everyone know that they are here.

  • Choice Time -- children are able to choose areas of the room to play/work such as painting in the art center, playing with play dough, enjoying books or quiet play in the reading corner, building with blocks, playing at the train table, cooking in the kitchen, taking care of the baby dolls, playing in the dress-up corner, putting puzzles together, doing a teacher-led art or craft project, exploring the sensory table or building with legos.

  • Circle Time -- the whole group comes together to do group circle games, play instruments together, read a book, sing songs, or do some dancing games to music. They will slowly introduce a longer circle time by having brief discussions about various topics like the theme of the week, and selecting jobs for line leader/caboose, watering the plants, light switcher and snack assistant.

  • Bathroom break and washing hands

  • Snack -- a combination of two of either a grain, fruit, vegetable, or dairy product and water keep us going during the morning.

  • Outdoor Play -- Groups spend as much time outside as the weather permits either on our innovative Turtle Playscape, riding bikes and scooters on our paved lot, or at Central Park. In the event of inclement weather, classes make use of two large indoor playrooms.

  • Goodbye Time -- a quick story and singing the goodbye song signals the end of the day and the arrival of parents and caregivers. As you can see, a lot gets accomplished in these short two and a half hours!
