Two multi-age classes (3, 4 & 5 year olds) meet from 9:15-11:45 am. Classrooms are balanced with older and younger children, as well as by gender. Parents can choose from several different attendance options - either 3, 4, or 5 days a week. Parents also may choose days of the week that best work for your family. We believe in flexibility! Two lead teachers teach each class with a maximum of eighteen children. Children may attend in pull-ups, however, these classrooms are not staffed to change diapers or pull-ups.

The Multi-Age Classrooms' day looks like this:

• First Circle Time — children and teachers have the chance to connect and say good morning to each other. Daily jobs are chosen including: line leader, turning off the light, closing the door, putting out cups or napkins at snack, room monitor, weather person, calendar person, etc. Lastly, children and teachers briefly discuss the theme of the week and children are told what different activities are available to them at choice time.

• Choice Time — children are able to choose where they would like to play/work such as painting in the art center, writing/drawing in the writing center, working on the craft/art project being led by a teacher, playing in the sensory table, doing dramatic play in the kitchen or dress-up area, building with blocks, reading in the library, playing with small manipulatives or doing hands on discovery play in the science area.

• Circle Time — the whole group comes together to read or act out books, sing songs, do group circle games, conduct science experiments and discuss the weekly theme in more depth. All classrooms also do some calendar work where they observe the daily weather, learn days of the week and count out days of the month. A lot of pre-literacy and pre-math gets woven in to the different circle times.

• Bathroom Break and Washing Hands

• Snack — a combination of two snacks are given daily. Water and a grain is served with either a fruit, vegetable or dairy product. Allergies are accounted for and can be discussed with the teachers to make sure accommodations are made. It's a great time to socialize and keep our strength up for the rest of the morning!

• Outdoor Play — Groups spend as much time outside as the weather permits either on our innovative Turtle Playscape, riding bikes and scooters on our paved lot, or at Central Park. In the event of inclement weather, classes make use of two large indoor playrooms.

• Quiet Books and Puzzle Time

• Going Home — children work on developing their self-help skills as they gather their jackets, backpack and mail. Getting dressed to go home is the last step before being picked up by a caregiver.
